Here are some examples and tips that may show you the purpose of this utility.

Once you get used to the provided shortcuts you'll notice an improved flow with computers.

Moving and resizing windows:

  • Often, when you open a new application you place it somewhere in the screen. You can use the placement shortcuts (Win + NumPad) to place the window immediately at any of the 9 division areas. Try for example, opening a windows explorer and move it to the right-bottom (Win + E and 3) or opening a Notepad and center it on-screen (Win + R, then type Notepad, hit enter and then press Win + 5). Now do it with a mouse.
  • You can temporarily hide the active window by minimizing it (Win + .) and then restoring it (Win + 0).
  • Resize a window to fit half the screen horizontally and full-screen vertically with: Win + Ctrl + 18 (first press 1 and then 8 while holding both Win and Ctrl keys).
  • Resize a window to fit half the screen vertically and full-screen horizontally with: Win + Ctrl + 16 (first press 1 and then 6 while holding both Win and Ctrl keys). Test all the numeric combinations to familiarize with the resizing shortcuts in the different areas.

Finding the right window:

  • When the taskbar has lots of opened applications is easy to get lost finding the right window. Most of the times, though, you only use a reduced group of the opened applications and the rest may remain minimized. In this situation, you can switch only between visible windows easily by holding the WinKey and pressing the minus (-) and plus (+) keys in the numeric pad. The minimized windows will remain in the taskbar.
  • Mapping applications provide a direct way to find a window. You can store up to 10 applications in the numeric keys (the ones over the letter keys). But mappings not only refer to a single window but the application itself. For example, mapping a Firefox window in the key #1 (Win + Ctrl + 1) actually maps the Firefox application so you can switch between all the Firefox windows when recalling this mapping (Win + 1 or Win + Shift + 1).
